Malaysia and Piasau Boat Club

After a long flight and a missed connection I finally arrived in Miri, Sarawak, Borneo, where my dad currently resides. Ah, the bliss of stepping out of the plane and feeling that wonderful tropical heat and humidity, I knew I was in heaven! Never mind being jetlagged, tired, and in a desperate need for a shower, I practically skipped through the airport to meet up with dad. So, what was the first thing my dad and his wife (May) have planned for me? Playing tennis at the Piasau Boat Club (PBC) in the evening humidity! Never mind I never played tennis before. Or that I was practically falling asleep on my feet. Turned out to be really good fun actually, despite the fact I kept on trying to play tennis with a squash style, or that more balls went out of the court than in.

The following day saw me back at the boat club watching dad kite surf whilst I had loads of fun splashing and diving through the waves. This was rounded off with an ice-cold Tiger beer whilst watching the sunset from the boat club, and in that moment I felt utterly at peace. I was warm, my muscles were slightly sore from playing in the waves, had an ice cold beer in my hands, and was watching the sunset on a (nearly) pristine tropical beach. As a start to my holiday I thought it could not get better than this.

First photo below shows me holding a sand bubbler crab.

Hmm, not too sure what cheese cookies taste like... although I was tempted to find out!
